Recommended Web resources for teachers
The following sites are free web-based resources that can be used in your classroom. Most of the resources have been recommended by Eudora Schools teachers and administrators.

The Kansas
Education Resource Center contains tools for teachers to use in
aligning classroom instruction and assessment to Kansas’ academic
standards. Standards resources are divided into sections by
standard. Within each section you will find the
following:
- Information on how each standard spans previous and next grade level
- Worksheets for assessing alignment of current curriculum to the standards.
- A series of instructional activities provided for teachers across Kansas and geared toward the teaching of each standard. The activities also feature opportunities to incorporate technology, other content areas, and other standards as well as tips for meeting the individual needs of students and extending the activities.
- Classroom assessments designed to measure what students know and what they need to learn in relation to the standards.
- A list of helpful materials to turn to for additional information on teaching and assessing each standard.

“Teachers' Domain” is an online educational service with two
related components — Collections and Courses — that help teachers
enhance their students' learning experiences and advance their own
teaching skills.

Teachers is PBS' national web destination for high-quality preK-12

resources are correlated to state and national educational
standards and are tied to PBS' award-winning on-air and online
programming like NOVA, Nature, Cyberchase, Between the Lions and

Intel's Design and Discovery
Design and
Discovery offers an inquiry and interdisciplinary approach to
engineering. Students are introduced to engineering principles and
guided through the design process, as they identify a personally
meaningful problem and develop a prototype to solve the problem.
Design and Discovery engages students who might otherwise not be
interested in science and engineering and prepares them for science
and engineering fairs. It is most appropriate for informal

common result of traditional homework and worksheets. Practice can

The lessons from the
website as well as additional lessons are on the CD which is
available in English or Spanish language versions. The CD runs on
Windows and Macintosh computers. You do not need to be connected to
the internet to use it which is desired by many parents of young
students. There are no advertisements on the CD.

is purposely organized around the 6 traits of writing. The
6-Trait model is an analytic way of thinking about writing skills.
It helps give developing writers a vocabulary so they can identify
and talk about their personal strengths as writers. It also
helps them develop a vocabulary for talking about where their
writing might benefit from some further rethinking and revision.
The WritingFix website is dedicated to giving students and teachers
a better ability to use 6-Trait language in the

Free-Reading
is an “open source” instructional program that helps teachers teach
early reading. Because it’s open source, it represents the
collective wisdom of a wide community of teachers and
researchers. It’s designed to contain a scope and sequence of
activities that can support and supplement a typical “core” or
“basal” program.

Guide to U.S. Government for Kids is brought to the World Wide Web
as a service of the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government
Printing Office (GPO). Ben's Guide serves as the educational
component of GPO Access, GPO's service to provide the official

information.
This site provides
learning tools for K-12 students, parents, and teachers. These
resources will teach how our government works, the use of the
primary source materials of GPO Access, and how one can use GPO
Access to carry out their civic responsibilities. And, just as GPO
Access provides locator services to U.S. Government sites, Ben's
Guide provides a similar service to U.S. Government Web sites
developed for kids.
