Camp Invention coming to Eudora this summer
Friday, Feb. 15, 2008
Camp Invention, a summer program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation, will be held at Eudora West Elementary School, June 2-6, 2008. The day camp is a non-profit educational outreach program for students in first through sixth grades that promotes a passion for learning science with exciting hands-on activities.
"This is an outstanding opportunity for our students" said Don Grosdidier, assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. "It combines physics, engineering and creative problem solving, but the great hands-on activities mean the students are simply having fun."
Each day student participants will cycle through five modules: Problem Solving on Planet Zak, Spills and Chills, Imagination Point: Ride Physics, I Can Invent, and Recess Remix. These modules are taught by a handful of the district's top teachers. The camp runs Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
Before the March 31 early bird deadline, registration is $185 per student, which includes daily snacks and a Camp Invention T-shirt. After March 31, registration is $205 per student. First priority for registrations will be given to students who attend school in the Eudora School District; out-of-district students may participate if space allows.
For more information or to register a student for the program, contact the Camp Invention office at 1-800-968-4332, or visit Camp Invention on the Web. A registration form also is available for download on the district Web site in the eFriday Folder.
