It's Kindergarten Roundup time!
Monday, April 7, 2008
Saddle up, pardners! All students entering kindergarten in August 2008 should participate in Kindergarten Roundup, taking place later this month. Parent night is 7 p.m. on Monday, April 21. Screenings will take place by appointment on April 24 and 25. All activities will be held at Nottingham Elementary School, 1428 Elm.
"The parent night is for the parents of all students who are old enough to enter kindergarten this fall," said Nottingham Principal Jim Lauer. He stressed that it's important to attend for each child, even if there are older siblings in the district and parents have attended before. There often is new or different information each year, and screening appointments are scheduled during the parent session.
"The purpose of Kindergarten Roundup is to help parents and students make the right decision about entering school," said Don Grosdidier, assistant superintendent of curriculum instruction. "It's a chance for experts to evaluate a number of different skills and developmental milestones, which helps parents make a decision based on the facts."
Attending Kindergarten Roundup does not obligate a child to attend in the fall.
