Teachers, board reach contract agreement

Friday, May 2, 2008

Teacher representatives and representatives of the Eudora Board of Education reached an agreement for a one-year contract at a bargaining session tonight. The agreement will be voted on by teachers and the full board next week.

Both parties have chosen to wait to announce details of the agreement until it is ratified by both the teachers and the board.

"Although the agreement is tentative and subject to ratification," said Superintendent of Schools Marty Kobza, "I think everyone feels like top priorities of this agreement are the encouragement of teachers to pursue additional education and the ability to attract and retain the best teachers at all points in their career."

Teachers are expected to vote early next week; the board will vote to approve the contract at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 8.
