Eudora's Safe Schools / Healthy Students project
Funded by a grant from the U.S. departments of Education, Justice and Health and Human Services
In July 2008, Eudora Schools received funding from the Safe Schools/Healthy Students initiative, a joint effort of the U.S. departments of Education, Justice and Health and Human Services. The federal program supports schools in creating safe learning environments that promote healthy childhood development and prevent youth violence and drug use.
The Eudora Safe Schools/Healthy Students program was funded at a rate of $745,816 per year for up to four years, for a total of nearly $3 million. Funding from one year to the next is based upon adequate progress toward the proposal's goals and is dependent on sustained levels of federal funding. The Eudora proposal was the only one in the state of Kansas to receive funding during the 2008 award cycle.
