Educators honored for years of service

Four Eudora Schools educators were recognized for having dedicated 25 years or more of service to education in the state of Kansas. The University of Kansas School of Education honored nearly 800 teachers statewide for this achievement.
Those recognized from Eudora Schools were Ron Abel, assistant principal of Eudora High School and principal of the Eudora-De Soto Technical Education Center; Peggy Claggett, family and consumer sciences teacher at EHS; Bonnie Daigh, EHS math teacher; and Phil Katzenmeier, Eudora Middle School physical education teacher and activities director.
"To commit a career to public education is a tremendous thing," said Superintendent of Schools Don Grosdidier. "Being an educator is not easy, especially given the challenges of declining resources, increasing expectations and more demanding legislation. In a field that involves daily, complex challenges, this kind of longevity is a real tribute to the kind of commitment these individuals have made to students and to their profession."
