More than 1,700 non-perishable food items and $605 in cash donations were collected from faculty and staff of Eudora Schools as they gathered for the fall kickoff and convocation on the morning of Aug. 16. The district partnered with the Eudora National Educational Association to sponsor the third annual kickoff food drive to benefit the Eudora Food Pantry.
"Each year, we have seen even more generosity from our staff team," said Amy Gingrich, Eudora teacher and chairperson of the ENEA public relations committee. "The generosity that is shown, both by our staff and by district supporters, was awesome."
Everyone donating to the drive was eligible for a prize drawing later that morning. Prizes were donated by business partners supporting the project.
"This food drive is a great way to kick off a new school year for our staff," said Superintendent of Schools Don Grosdidier. "This school district is here to serve the community of Eudora, and this food drive is just one more way that we can demonstrate that."
More than $1,000 worth of prizes, as well as cash gifts for the Eudora Food Pantry, were generously donated by these business and community partners:
