At the beginning of each semester, students are encouraged to use introspection as they set internal and external goals. My students are then instructed to share these goals with their parents and create a contract (see below). These contracts become the foundation of communication between the student, the parents, and the instructor. The classroom instruction is designed to improve student performance buy strengthening fundamental learning skills. The other information presented to students during class varies depending upon the demand presented to the district through the state assessments. Some of the skills we focus on strengthening are note taking, test taking and problem solving skills based on each student's learning style evaluation. Each year students bring research-based strategies to class that will improve their classroom and test taking performance. The goal is to provide students with tools that will help them become life-long, independent learners. Feel free to contact me with any of your thoughts, concerns, or questions.
