Eudora educators honored as Teachers of the Year

Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010

Three Eudora teachers have been named Teacher of the Year for their grade levels. First grade teacher Beth Swanson represents the primary grades, and fourth grade teacher Holly Bohardt was honored for the intermediate grades. Science teacher Eric Magette was selected for Eudora High School.

Superintendent of Schools Don Grosdidier presented the awards to the honorees, who are now being considered for selection as the district nominee for Kansas Teacher of the Year.

“Kansas Teacher of the Year is a program that we are very proud to participate in,” Grosdidier said. “We are a small district, but I would put our teachers up against any others in the state. Teacher of the Year is about selecting outstanding educators who can represent their colleagues, and this year’s honorees are no exception.”

Swanson is in her sixth year as a Eudora teacher, and Bohardt has taught in Eudora for the past 10 years. Magette joined the Eudora High School staff in 2006. Eudora's grade-level nomination and selection processes recently were formalized, including input from fellow teachers, district employees and parents.
