Teachers, board ratify new contract

Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010

The Eudora Board of Education voted in a special meeting on Aug. 23 to ratify the new negotiated agreement for teachers. The new agreement includes full movement on the salary schedule, for both years of service and additional education.

Correspondingly, the board voted to give classified staff members movement on the classified salary schedule and to extend a one percent increase for administrative staff members.

"These are very difficult financial times for the district and for families everywhere," said Superintendent of Schools Don Grosdidier. "The Board is being as conservative as possible, in light of continuing school finance hardship. However, the actions to increase salaries, even minimally, should demonstrate the Board's continuing efforts to treat all employees as fairly as possible."

Grosdidier pointed out that the increase will not offset the increase in the health insurance premiums on the district plan, which went up 16-18% since last year.
