Eudora Schools employee benefits & payroll reductions
Employee benefit programs
- Kansas Public Employee
Retirement System: KPERS
KPERS provides life insurance and long-term disability coverage to active (non-retired) members. For school district retirees, KPERS also provides retirement income and a $4,000 death benefit. Optional group life insurance is available to active members, as well. - Health
insurance: Blue Cross Blue
Shield
BCBS is the group health insurance provider for Eudora Schools employees. The district pays a defined benefit of $275 per month toward employees' coverage in the plan. Click here to download the different plan rates for the Oct. 1, 2009-Sept. 30, 2010 benefit year. - Cafeteria
Plan: Security
Benefit
Security Benefit provides the district's cafeteria plan (also known as 125 Plan) for medical reimbursement and dependent care reimbursement. The plan can be an effective way to plan for medical and child care expenses, allowing a set amount of money to be deducted from your paycheck before taxes. This amount can be used later in the year to reimburse qualifying expenses. (Monies not spent in a plan year do not roll over to the next year.) Since deductions are taken out before taxes, participating in this plan effectively reduces your taxable income, thereby lowering the income taxes you must pay. - Health Savings Account
(HSA): American Chartered (as of Oct. 1,
2009)
An HSA option is available to qualifying employees who choose to participate in a High Deductible Health Plan. An HSA allows participants to put aside designated amounts of money, tax-free, for health care expenses. Excess funds roll over from one year to the next. Click below to download more specific guidelines and requirements of HSA programs: - Vision and dental
insurance: Ameritas Group
Ameritas Group is the district's provider for group vision and dental insurance. - Group
term life and short-term disability insurance: Reliance
Standard
Employees of Eudora Schools may purchase optional group term life insurance and disability income insurance through Reliance Standard. - Retirement savings:
Bay Bridge
Administrators
Bay Bridge is the third-party administrator for the district's 403b plan (tax sheltered annuity), an optional retirement savings program for employees.

Workers' compensation
In case of an accident on the job, contact your immediate supervisor or building office for assistance. This will ensure prompt care to injury, as well as appropriate initial processing for any claims.
Once stable, injured employees must work with Eva in the central office to complete the necessary paperwork. Non-critical injuries will be treated at KU Medwest Occupational Health Clinic, 7405 Renner Rd. in Shawnee. To be treated, the employee will need to present a copy of Corporate Health form, available at the central office — be sure you have this form with you before you travel to the clinic!

Moving? Name change? Having a baby?
- Any time there are changes to your employee contact information (including your name!), e-mail your updates to Eva at the central office.
- Getting married? Consider that you may want to add your new spouse to your medical/dental policy or change your beneficiaries. Eva can help you complete this process.
- Having a baby? Plan ahead! You have 30 days from the time your child is born to add his or her name to your district health insurance policy. During this time period, you also have the opportunity to change your withholdings for your medical or dependent care expenses. Eva also can help you make these changes and answer any questions you have about leave time, short-term disability insurance, etc.
Still have questions?
Information about any of the district's benefits, payroll programs or workers' compensation is available from Eva Deonier at the central office.
