Budget cuts at Eudora Schools

Beginning in November 2008, state funding for public schools has been repeatedly cut by the Kansas Legislature. As a result, the Eudora Schools budget has been cut by more than $2 million over this time. Click here to read about the most recent round of budget decisions — including 11 teaching positions and a new all-day kindergarten fee — intended to balance the 2011-2012 budget. Click here to read a complete list of the cuts, fees and changes that were approved at the May 2011 meeting.

During each budgeting session, the Eudora Board of Education has relied on input from district and school building leaders, parents, patrons and district employees. One source of feedback was an online cost savings suggestion form. Suggestions submitted between November 2010 and June 2011 were presented in open session at each school board meeting. Here are copies of the reports from each of these meetings:

Should there be more cuts in state funding, or changes to the school finance formula, in the future, the board may choose to re-open the online suggestion form again. In the meantime, supporters of Eudora Schools are urged to share their views with the state's elected officials.
