Social-Emotional Learning at Eudora Schools

  • From birth, through school, and long after graduation, your child is first and foremost a unique human being. Your child's life is filled with relationships, emotions — and the ability to navigate those things in any given situation throughout life play a huge role in creating a fulfilling and happy life. In Eudora Schools, our mission is to educate the whole child, and that includes social-emotional learning and behavioral health.

     

    The research is clear: Social-emotional learning gives students the essential skills that are required to be ready for — and thrive in — college, career and life. Social-emotional skills, such as problem-solving, managing emotions, communication and teamwork, improve a student's academic learning and test scores. 

     

    There are three main areas where we focus on social-emotional learning in all grade levels, beginning in preschool and kindergarten and continuing through graduation:

     

    • What we teach: A social-emotional evidence-based curriculum called Second Step (EES and EMS) or School Connect (EHS)
    • How we teach: We are dedicated to teaching social-emotional skills to students, according to these key areas of emphasis.
    • Monitoring student growth and progress: These tools help us know where more support is needed for your student.

    Parent-teacher conferences are offered to all parents in October, although you may request a conference on an appointment-only date in September, or any time you have a concern about your child.
