• Welcome to Preschool!

The Eudora Schools Early Childhood Programs are located at West Resource Center.  The preschool offered through the Eudora Schools Early Childhood Program is designed to meet the needs of a variety of children, including special education and at-risk students.  The program also has typically developing peers who serve as models demonstrating age-appropriate skills and behaviors.

Students age 3 or 4 who were attending preschool in May 2022 are already pre-registered for preschool in August 2022.  Watch for information about online enrollment in July to complete your student's annual enrollment.  If you wish to use the extended care option, you must apply for a slot.  Please reference the extended care program information on the left-hand menu.

If your child was not attending preschool at the end of the school year in May, he or she will need to attend a monthly screening.  Upcoming screening dates will be posted on the Early Childhood Program calendar.  Please fill out the Pre-Enrollment Form and call the Early Childhood main office at 785-542-4920 to schedule a screening appointment.

In order to better serve your students and meet state guidelines, Preschool will begin on Monday, Aug. 16th, and will be in session at these times:

    Morning Session (Includes Breakfast)
7:30 AM - 10:40 AM, Monday through Friday

    Afternoon Session (Includes Lunch)
11:30 AM - 2:40 PM,  Monday through Thursday

Your student’s assignment to the morning or afternoon session is determined by age.  Children who will be attending kindergarten the following school year will be assigned to the morning session and will attend preschool Monday through Friday.  Younger students who will not be transitioning to kindergarten the following year will be attending the afternoon session and will attend Monday through Thursday.  This increased instructional time for older students will allow staff to provide more developmentally appropriate lessons and better prepare students for the transition to kindergarten.

    Fee structure

All students will pay a $65 instructional supply fee, as well as a $5 technology usage fee. Students qualifying for free/reduced lunch may receive support for the instructional supply fee. In addition, preschool students who enroll as peer models will be charged a monthly preschool fee of $70. The monthly fee does not apply to those students who are on a special education plan and/or qualify for at-risk status. Click here to view the district fee schedule, with additional information.

Depending on whether your child is in the morning or afternoon session, he/she will have time to eat breakfast or lunch as part of the preschool curriculum.

    District calendar

The district calendar includes regular early release days (second Wednesday of each month), as well as teacher in-service days and teacher workdays. Preschool will not be in session when school is not in session nor on early release days.  To plan ahead for your student's care, click here to view the annual district calendar.
