Our Social-Emotional Curriculum

  • Social emotional development at Eudora Schools is part of every child’s curriculum. We use two evidence-based curriculum programs, Second Step at Eudora Elementary and Eudora Middle School, and School Connect at Eudora High School. The lessons taught from each of these programs, along with academics and behavior, form the foundation of an approach being implemented in districts across Kansas called MTSS, or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.


    Social and emotional learning is more than expecting good behavior. In our schools, we teach the skills that empower students with effective problem-solving, communication, empathy, and relationship-building. These skills, sometimes referred to as the 21st Century Soft Skills, are critical to a child's development and future success in school, career and life. Our district has been working to integrate the teaching of these skills into our students' lessons for several years, and these efforts continue as outlined in the district's 2013-2015 Strategic Plan.
