The following sites are free web-based resources that can be used in your classroom. Most of the resources have been recommended by Eudora Schools teachers and administrators.
General education sites
Learning Design Collective CoreTools is an online design space where teachers can use templates to create units (known as LDC “modules”) to teach disciplinary writing skills in response to reading complex texts. Teachers can also create smaller assignments (known as LDC “mini-tasks”) to target and develop specific literacy skills and provide formative data on student skill development. Mini-tasks can be used on a stand-alone basis or within an LDC module.
PBS LearningMedia™ is your destination for direct access to thousands of classroom-ready, curriculum-targeted digital resources. PBS LearningMedia builds on the strength of public media and is designed to improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement. Resources are aligned to Common Core and national standards and include videos and interactives, as well as audio, documents, and in-depth lesson plans. You can browse by standards, grade level, subject area, and special collections. You can also favorite and share resources with your class and colleagues. Best of all, PBS LearningMedia’s basic service is free for PreK-12 educators.

This site was created by Greg Nussbaum and contains interactive activities for students in Grades PK-6.
Susan Brooks and Bill Byles began a collaborative effort to extend assistance to fellow teachers. That project has expanded to a web presence known as Internet 4 Classrooms, a free web portal designed to assist anyone who wants to find high-quality, free Internet resources to use in classroom instruction, developing project ideas, reinforcing specific subject matter areas both in the class and at home and even for online technology tutorials.
Home page for the Nobel prize. Provides information and stories about Nobel Laureates. Also includes links to educational games for a variety of subject areas.
Since 1997, kids, teachers, librarians, and parents have enthusiastically turned to Funbrain for its free educational games, online books, and comics. Funbrain, created for kids ages preschool through grade 8, offers more than 100 fun, interactive games that develop skills in math, reading, and literacy. Plus, kids can read a variety of popular books and comics on the site, including Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Amelia Writes Again, and Brewster Rocket.
Discovery Education offers a broad range of free classroom resources that complement and extend learning beyond the bell.
Math sites
Interactive math resources for teachers, parents, and students featuring free math worksheets, math games, math flashcards, and more.
Founded in 1920, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) is the world's largest mathematics education organization, with 60,000 members and more than 230 Affiliates throughout the United States and Canada.

Language arts sites
Writing Fix
WritingFix is purposely organized around the 6 traits of writing. The 6-Trait model is an analytic way of thinking about writing skills. It helps give developing writers a vocabulary so they can identify and talk about their personal strengths as writers. It also helps them develop a vocabulary for talking about where their writing might benefit from some further rethinking and revision. The WritingFix website is dedicated to giving students and teachers a better ability to use 6-Trait language in the classroom.
ReadWriteThink, established in April of 2002, is a partnership between the International Reading Association (IRA), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), and the Verizon Foundation. NCTE and IRA are working together to provide educators and students with access to the highest quality practices and resources in reading and language arts instruction through free, Internet-based content. The website includes great teacher lesson plans with interactive computer activities.

At Web English Teacher educators can take advantage of online technology to share ideas and to benefit from the work of others. Beginning teachers can find guidance; experienced teachers can find inspiration.
Health sites
United States Department of Agriculture website on nutrition.
The Kansas Learning Center for Health offers health education programs for students through field trips and outreach programs. The website includes resources as well as a great list of other web links for health education.
Students must go to school with their minds and bodies ready to take advantage of the learning environment schools work so hard to prepare. The school environment plays a vital role in shaping students' nutritional health throughout their growing years and into their adult lives. The programs offered by the Institute support schools in their efforts to integrate nutrition education, wellness policy goals, and services into comprehensive health education, food service, school health, and physical education programs.
Social studies sites
The Library of Congress offers classroom materials and professional development to help teachers effectively use primary sources from the Library's vast digital collections in their teaching. Find Library of Congress lesson plans and more that meet Common Core standards, state content standards, and the standards of national organizations.
Social Studies Central provides resources with a focus on the Social Studies, supports teachers as they improve their instruction and helps educators engage kids in learning. You will find lesson plans, new web sites, links to standards and assessment advice, technology integration resources and information about workshops and staff development.
The Kansas Council for Economic Education and its partners are proud to introduce Financial Foundations for Kansas Kids! FF4Kids is a comprehensive set of standards-based, interactive computer courseware lessons that integrate personal financial literacy and its underlying economic principles into the social studies, language arts and math curriculums.
Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids is brought to the World Wide Web as a service of the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). Ben's Guide serves as the educational component of GPO Access, GPO's service to provide the official online version of legislative and regulatory information.
This site provides learning tools for K-12 students, parents, and teachers. These resources will teach how our government works, the use of the primary source materials of GPO Access, and how one can use GPO Access to carry out their civic responsibilities. And, just as GPO Access provides locator services to U.S. Government sites, Ben's Guide provides a similar service to U.S. Government Web sites developed for kids.It's estimated that anywhere from 85 to 95 percent of the content addressed in social studies emerges from the textbook. As a curriculum area driven by content coverage unlike any other, social studies teachers face a particular challenge in helping students access and make sense of content. ReadingQuest: Making Sense in Social Studies is a website designed for social studies teachers who wish to more effectively engage their students with the content in their classes. ReadingQuest is designed to provide you with the philosophical bases for sound comprehension strategy instruction, directions for a range of comprehension and content reading strategies, and printable handouts and masters for transparencies. You will be invited to think about how a social studies skills framework might help you choose the right strategies for your lessons.

The Kansas State Historical Society website. This site contains a variety of information and resources on Kansas History along with links to other state sites. Teachers can also find resources and lessons.
The virtual Jamestown website includes resources, and activities on the first successful English colony in America at Jamestown, Virginia.

This website is a great source for teacher resources in science as well as maps for geography.
Movies in Schools
Swank - Movie Site License Database
Swank Motion Pictures, Inc. provides our district with the ability to view movies in our buildings, during non-instructional events. When showing a movie that is not tied directly to instruction or curriculum (celebrations, incentives, parties, after school events, etc.), the movie must be included in the Swank database. To determine if a video that is not directly tied to instruction or curriculum is approved for public viewing go to https://www.swank.com/k-12-schools/. Click on the search icon (magnifying glass) in the upper right corner of the screen. Enter the name of the movie title. If it is covered under the licenses, a thumbnail image will appear. If you click on the thumbnail, you can get some additional information (rating, runtime, etc.).
