Emergency Safety Interventions (ESI)

In February 2013 the Kansas State Board of Education passed regulations on the use of Emergency Safety Interventions (seclusion and restraint) for all students enrolled in Kansas public schools.
- Emergency: Immediate danger
- Safety: Immediate danger of student harming self or others
- Intervention: Restraint or seclusion is used for limited periods of time and ceases immediately when the immediate danger of harm to self or others has dissipated.
The ESI regulations can be found by clicking here. Eudora Schools is using ESI procedures as described in the regulations. In August 2015, the Eudora Board of Education adopted policy to address the use of ESI in the district. Click here to view this policy.
