Revenue Neutral Tax Rate Resolution

The board adopted the Revenue Neutral Tax Rate Resolution NO. 23-14: A resolution expressing the property taxation policy of USD 491 Eudora with respect to exceeding the Revenue Neutral Tax Rate for financing the annual budget for 2023-2024. K.S.A 79-2988, provides that a levy of property taxes to finance the 2023-2024 budget of USD 491 exceeds the Revenue Neutral Tax Rate to finance the 2023-2024 budget of USD 491, be authorized by a resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by USD 491 that the 2023-2024 budget with a levy of property taxes exceeding the Revenue Neutral Tax Rates calculated for 2023-2024, as adjusted pursuant to K.S.A 79-2988 is hereby adopted. Adopted this 14th day of September 2023 by USD 491 Eudora in Douglas County, Kansas.

New Staff Introduction

Dr. Bogart, EHS Principal, presented a slide deck spotlighting the new EHS Staff.

Mr. Thomas, EMS Principal, introduced his new staff and shared a little about them and their experience at Eudora Middle School.

Mr. Heide, EES Principal, welcomed the new staff members at EES. Those present introduced themselves.

Machaela Beshears shared statistics about district vehicles, requests, trips, and transportation staff. All transportation vehicles passed state inspections. Machaela praised all of her team for their incredible work throughout the year so far!

Mr. Mockel shared an update regarding the design plans from bond items, including the EHS gym, EHS classrooms, EMS office, and the Early Learning Center.

EHS Fine Arts Course Expansion
Eudora Schools Foundation Report
Mrs. Whalen shared that the ESF Prize Patrol is on October 6th, where they will award funding for submitted grant applications. The annual golf tournament is Friday, October 20th. The Foundation also hired a new Volunteer Program Coordinator.
Special Education Interlocal Board Meeting Report
Mrs. Plate and Mrs. Reazin shared that the interlocal is looking to apply for grants to provide training for their employees. They are impressed with the administration’s work towards the strategic plan, specifically improving the work towards IEPs and making them more meaningful for the individual students. The next SEAC meeting is October 10th at 5:30 at West Resource Center.
City of Eudora Planning Commission Meeting Report
Mr. Hurla shared that the property behind the high school was annexed. This is a step in the development process, but an official timeline hasn’t been set.
Curriculum Coordinating Council Report
Mrs. Harding shared that the CCC met for their first meeting of the year, which was well attended. The district website has a section for minutes from these meetings and other great information about Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. They also created a proposal to submit to the Board about EHS Fine Arts Course Expansion.
