Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Jeremy Thomas
I am starting my 6th year as Principal at Eudora Middle School. This is my 11th year as an administrator, where I served as the 7-12 Assistant Principal/Activities Director for 5 years in Hershey, NE. I began my career in education as a high school Business Teacher for 3 years prior to becoming an administrator. I was also the head girls basketball coach for 8 years, head boys golf coach for 3 years, and assistant boys basketball coach for 1 year. I married my high school sweetheart, Carly, in 2006. We have two daughters, Shirey (11) and Chazley (6). We also have a dog named Elsa and a cat named Malfoy (truly one is a princess and the other is pretty evil). My wife is a Clinical Professor for Speech Pathology at Wichita State University. She is able to work from home 4 days a week and makes the trek to Wichita once a week. This past summer, we started a new adventure by buying a dance studio, Ignition Dance Academy, and moving it to Lawrence.
I was raised in Fargo, Oklahoma and moved to Plains, Kansas as a teenager where I attended Southwestern Heights High School. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Administration from Wichita State University. During my time at WSU I had the great privilege being a manager and head manager for the Wichita State Men's Basketball Program where I had the opportunity to work with great coaches and players including Mark Turgeon and Greg Marshall. In 2009 I took an unconventional route to teaching and started my transitional teaching program where I received my teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I received a Master of Science in Education degree from Wayne State College.
My passion is working with all students and helping them to reach their full potential, and I know that this would not be possible without a dedicated, hard working faculty/staff and parents. I have an open door policy and encourage everyone to stop in with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year. Although education has its challenges, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child succeed. Having a hand in a child's success makes the long hours and many challenges that we face worthwhile. I want every staff member and student to feel as though he or she is a part of something special. You will see me on Twitter and Facebook using #EudoraProud and #WeareEMS quite a bit throughout the year. It is about finding a way to educate every single student and never giving up on them! I will always strive to do what is in the students, staff, and district's best interest.
Here at Eudora Middle School, we have worked tirelessly to make this school all about the kids, building a strong culture, offering multiple opportunities, creating connections with our community, and building strong relationships to help all students succeed. We are all about creating opportunities for students to explore the world of education and help guide them on the path they will take in their future. We have an amazing high school that offers numerous career paths for students. We want to help educate them on what is offered and what they can do now to guide their future. We offer a wide variety of electives for students to take, enrichment programs, activities, and incentive programs to try and find something for every student.
Eudora is a special place to live and we are surrounded by amazing people. It is so great to call Eudora and EMS our home! Let's go CARDINALS!
Jeremy Thomas, EMS Principal
