Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Jeremy Thomas
I have been the 7-12 assistant principal and activities director for the past 5 years in Hershey, NE. I was also the head girls basketball coach for the past 8 years. I began my career in education as Hershey's high school business teacher for 3 years prior to becoming an administrator. It was bittersweet to say goodbye to so many great educators and an amazing school district, but I am looking forward to beginning my career as a principal at EMS. I married my high school sweetheart, Carly, in 2006. We have two daughters, Shirey (7) and Chazley (2). Some of you got to meet Shirey at the meet and greet back in March. She doesn't know a stranger and is quite the social butterfly! Chazley is pretty shy but a bit of a daredevil, and she refuses to slow down! We also have a dog named Elsa (I'm sure you can guess where we came up with her name!). My wife accepted a job as a speech therapist at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
I was raised in Fargo, Oklahoma and moved to Plains, Kansas as a teenager where I attended Southwestern Heights High School. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Administration from Wichita State University. During my time at WSU I had the great privilege being a manager and head manager for the Wichita State Men's Basketball Program where I had the opportunity to work with great coaches and players including Mark Turgeon and Greg Marshall. In 2009 I took an unconventional route to teaching and started my transitional teaching program where I received my teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I received a Master of Science in Education degree from Wayne State College.
Making the move from Nebraska to Kansas will be quite the transition, but one thing that never changes is that we are here for one reason only; the STUDENTS! My passion is working with all students and helping them to reach their full potential, and I know that this would not be possible without a dedicated, hard working faculty/staff and parents. I have an open door policy and encourage everyone to stop in with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year. Although education has it's challenges, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child succeed. Having a hand in a child's success makes the long hours and many challenges that we face worthwhile. I want every staff member and student to feel as though he or she is a part of something special. You will see me on Twitter and Facebook using #emsfamily and #WEareEMS quite a bit throughout the year. It is about finding a way to educate every single student and never giving up on them! I will always strive to do what is in the students, staff, and district's best interest.
Eudora is a special place to live and we are surrounded by amazing people. It is so great to finally call Eudora and EMS our home! Let's go CARDINALS!
