Ms. Melanie McQueen (Profe McQueen)

¡Hola! I am happy to be back in Eudora for my 14th year in the district! This year, I am teaching Spanish One at Eudora High School, and I am also the EHS Cardinal Color Guard coach (you can see my team perform with the marching band during halftime at football games). In addition, I am a co-sponsor of the EHS International Club with Katelyn Kellerman, the EHS Spanish Two, Three and Four Teacher.

During my time in Eudora, I have been the district teacher for ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), and I developed and taught in the elementary and middle school Spanish programs. Among the highlights of my 34 years of teaching was being named the Eudora Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2016 and a Kansas Teacher of the Year Regional Semi-Finalist in 2017. I also served as the co-chair of the Kansas State ESOL Standards Revision Committee.

Previously, I have taught French and Spanish in Atwood, KS; Panorama Schools in Panora, IA; the Griswold Schools in Griswold, IA; the Atlantic School District in Atlantic, IA; and the Riverside School District in Oakland, IA. I also have been a sign language transliterator in the Atlantic Schools.

My twins, Jayce and Julia, are 2016 graduates of EHS. Both are now married, and grandchild number one is on the way! I love to read, swim, travel, do jigsaw puzzles, and play games. A passion of mine is serving in Mexico and Guatemala on mission trips, providing healthcare, eyecare, and clean water to those living in impoverished conditions. I have also traveled to Costa Rica and seven countries in Europe.
