Sharla Flakus receives district Apple Award
Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016
Sharla Flakus, food and nutrition services director for Eudora Schools, received the district's Apple Award in a surprise presentation at Eudora Elementary.
"This award is special because it shows the difference that any of our employees can make in Eudora Schools," Splichal said during a school awards assembly. "Our recipient today is a great example of just that."
The nomination for Flakus included the following comments to illustrate her dedication:
- Sharla works hard year round in her position. She is always filling in for employees who are gone, or for positions that need to be filled.
- She does a great job working with students and discovering what they like to eat, working with parents and working with her own staff.
- Sharla deserves an extra big shout out for all she does for the Senior Citizen Dinner, which takes place in November. She works hard planning and preparing that meal for over 160 guests.
- Sharla goes above and beyond what is expected of her every day.
Twice a year, the Eudora Schools Apple Award honors one employee, in any position, who has demonstrated outstanding service or achievement. Nominations are submitted by any employee in the district and evaluated by a selection committee representing a diverse group of job titles.
"There is never a shortage of great nominations for this award," Splichal said, "and it's clear that Sharla represents the qualities of commitment, dedication, compassion and creativity that make our district so special."
