The First-Ever Eudora USD 491 Support Staff Job Fair Was a Success

On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, the Eudora School District hosted its first-ever Support Staff Job Fair, in collaboration with Morgan-Hunter Education and the East Central Kansas Cooperative in Education (ECKCE), in preparation for the upcoming school year. The event provided employment seeking individuals with opportunities to interview and share a resume, while learning more about Eudora Schools, Morgan-Hunter, and the ECKCE.

“We wanted to provide a convenient way for our applicants to come in and meet with our staff to learn more about the open positions face to face,” said Amy Shanks, director of human resources.  “We felt this offered a better picture into who we are as a school district and also allowed the candidates an opportunity to ask questions, which is often difficult to do in an online application.”

The event served as an exciting opportunity, for those who could attend, to make an impact on the lives of children in Eudora.  Interviews were conducted on-site to fill a variety of needs, ranging from paraprofessionals, substitutes, and the district’s afterschool program.

“We were able to assist several candidates in beginning the process towards becoming substitute teachers and were also able to meet with several potential candidates for our open paraprofessional positions,” Shanks stated. “We are hoping to host more of these job fairs in the future.”

The opportunity to work with the district still exists. To learn more about a career with Eudora Schools, please visit https://www.eudoraschools.org/employment.
