COVID-19 Update - Wednesday, September 16, 2020

Dear Eudora Families,

As you know, schools across Kansas and the nation are working to provide a quality education during a challenging time. Additionally, families are doing the same. Tonight’s communication will hopefully reduce some of the stress we are experiencing concerning remote learning.

The Kansas Department of Education has made a significant change to their learning time accountability process after listening to feedback from parents, students, teachers, and administrators. As a result, the previously utilized learning logs will no longer be required.

KSDE continues to require schools and families to ensure that learning takes place in a remote setting. Rather than a weekly signed learning log, families will complete and sign a Remote Learning Assurances Form which notes that parents:

  1. Understand that their students may need additional support to complete assigned work, and to the best of their ability, their family will provide the needed support. Additionally, the family will provide super supervision during the learning process.
  2. Agree that their child(ren) are expected to be available to communicate with teaching staff on a regular basis as outlined by the school district.
  3. Will notify the school to report an absence if their student is unable to participate on any given day (illness or doctor appointment).

This is excellent news and will allow our teachers and students to focus on learning instead of minutes. Please click here to view the Remote Learning Assurances Form, including those assurances we will provide as your student’s school district. Later this week, you will receive this form in the mail. We ask that all families complete the parent portion of the form and return it to the school of the oldest Eudora Schools student in your household, by Friday, October 2, 2020.

I also want to take this time to remind families to complete the federal Free and Reduced Meal Program application if they have not already done so. The Free and Reduced Meal Program is designed to help families by providing breakfast and lunch for free or at a reduced rate for those students who qualify. Additionally, this program helps to fund essential programs in each of our schools. You may stop by our schools and pick up a copy of the application. Or, you can click here to access and print the federal free and reduced meal application.

We are so thankful to be working with students once again. Whether we are in-person, hybrid, or remote, it is a great feeling to connect with students and families once again. As adjustments are made, we will be sure to communicate with you. Thank you for your continued support.

Respectfully,
