EDTEC Move to Hybrid Model

Dear EDTEC Families and Students,

I wanted to provide you with an update connected to last night's Eudora district Board of Education decision regarding the learning model our district will move to starting Monday September 14, 2020. The Eudora DeSoto Technical Education Center will move into a Hybrid Learning model, where the student population will attend in-person at school on specific days of the week. In-person attendance is dependent on the student’s group designation. This designation is clearly identifiable within the PowerSchool application when logging into a device and reviewing your child’s information. The Hybrid group “A” is for students with a last name starting A-I.  The Hybrid group “B” is for students with last names J-Z.

The weekly model used will be an AA/R/BB schedule for the school week. This means a student designated as an “A” group student would attend school in-person on Monday and Tuesday, and participate virtually on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Those students designated as a “B” group student would participate virtually on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and attend in-person on Thursday and Friday. To be clear, when on a virtual learning attendance day, students will need to check in with their teacher electronically.

Teaching staff will create hourly zoom invites for their students in order to confirm attendance in their specific class periods for the virtual days.  So, when virtual learning is taking place, the student will login to a teacher’s course at their regularly scheduled class period time using the zoom invite sent by the teacher.  If unable to login at that time due to issues with the internet or other family activity, the student must complete an attendance log used to verify learning participation. These log sheets are daily sheets, require a parent signature, and are available as an attachment to this communication. They will also be available as a downloadable file from the high school webpage. Daily Log Link These log sheets will be returned to the EHS Office on a weekly basis, and can be returned physically to the building, or electronically to the attendance secretary.

Those EDTEC students enrolled in the C.N.A. coursework within the Health Careers department are not impacted by the Hybrid learning model, and they will continue to follow the schedule developed by their C.N.A. instructor.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. It remains important to provide our students with quality educational experiences. If you have questions connected to the Hybrid Learning model, please don’t hesitate to send an email or call the Tech School.
