EMS Phase Announcement & 6th Grade Orientation

Dear Eudora Families,

In an effort to provide families with a definitive vision for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, per the direction of the Eudora Board of Education, we will begin the school year in the Green Phase with On-Site Learning. This decision was based on directives provided by the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department (LDCHD), on Thursday, August 20, 2020. According to LDCHD metrics, Douglas County is in the Green Phase, with a 14-day COVID-19 Test Positivity Rate rolling average of 4.0%. The decision to begin school in the On-site model is in alignment with the LDCHD’s gating criteria and plan. For more information on the LDCHD’s Smart and Safe Schools Reopening Guidance, please visit

We will continue with our plans to meet with Cohort A for a half-day on September 3 and Cohort B on September 4. All students will meet for on-site learning each day, the week of September 8 through September 11, 2020. The Board will review the LDCHD metrics and directives at their regular Board meeting, scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2020. Should changes be deemed necessary, we will be sure to communicate this to you.

Parents wishing to sign their student(s) up for the 100% Remote Learning Parent Option, make do so by clicking here. The form has been re-opened. There is no deadline for your decision.

Activities play a significant role in the overall educational experience for our students. For some, it is a chance to develop and grow interpersonal skills and improve work ethic. For others, it can lead to opportunities beyond high school. Activities, both athletic and academic, are important. The Board also voted to continue full participation in activities with mitigation strategies. The Board will continue to reevaluate participation in activities, as it relates to the LDCHD’s gating criteria and plan. As changes or developments occur, we will be sure to keep you informed.

The decision to open school and allow full participation was a very difficult decision. Each family, student, and teacher, along with their health and safety is, and will continue to be a priority. We will continue our efforts to keep you informed. Thank you for your support, understanding, and grace as we work through these unique times.
