More First Days of School Information
Dear EMS Families,
With Thursday fast approaching I wanted to give everyone a few more details on what to expect for students first days of school. Below are some details about school supplies, no lockers policy, school supplies/backpack needs and some more information that will help your student be ready for school this week. We will be in-person next week through Friday, per Board direction. They will re-evaluate at the September 10th Board Meeting.
No Academic Lockers
Due to our lockers being so close together and us trying to get students to and from class in a safe way, students are not being issued academic lockers this year. We know how much students love having their own lockers and space to decorate. We just cannot do that at this time while trying to follow all our mitigation procedures. Students will be allowed to have their own backpacks that they will carry to each class. They can be placed on the back of their chair in the classroom. Students are also being issued a chrome book bag that they will be required to placed their chrome book in. The bag can be placed in the backpack or they can carry the bag by the handle. These bags will be handed out this week.
Students can bring their school supplies on Thursday or Friday and take them to their 1st hour class.
Need help getting school supplies and chrome book bags?
Eudora families in need of assistance for school supplies please submit an online request to the Bird's Nest bit.ly/BirdsNestRequest. The Eudora Schools Foundation is able to provide backpacks and school supplies for families in need grades preschool through high school.
We are also asking that each student bring a water bottle to school. We have three re-filling stations available that are hands-free. All water fountains have been shut off. If your child needs a water bottle you can also request that through Bird's Nest. Also if your student forgets their water bottle, we will help provide one.
I have attached a map of our school so you and your child can go through where their classes are located. Breakfast will be available and students get their to-go breakfast to take with them. Again, 7th and 8th grade students will report to their 1st hour class once they enter the building and decide if they are getting breakfast. 6th grade students will go to the auditorium.
Here is a link for 6th grade website that families can access. They will provide more details on how to navigate through the information.
Thank you for your support and patience during this time. We are almost there and ready to get school started!
