Welcome Back EMS Families
Good morning EMS Families,
I am so excited to open the doors tomorrow morning and welcome our 2021-2022 EMS Cardinals. It is going to be a great day and a spectacular school year. I know some of you are ready to send them off and others are pretty nervous, even scared to send them to school. I want you all to know that our staff here at EMS is not just ready to provide an amazing education and experience for our students, but we will also do everything we can to keep your child safe.
The mission of Eudora Middle School is to create a safe and nurturing environment to meet the unique needs of middle level students as they develop intellectually and socially. Our goal is to help educate the Whole Child by encouraging individual growth, developing strong social-emotional wellness, providing an exciting and rigorous education, increasing opportunities for participation, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork!
Tomorrow and everyday this year, the doors will open at 7:40 am. Students will not be allowed to cross the bus lane until that time. We ask you to not drop your child off at the island and have them wait, as that creates a very unsafe situation for them and the other drivers. I have attached a link to our parking lot safety video if you have any questions about how our parking lot procedures work. We ask that you all follow the procedures we have in place, so it does not create a dangerous situation for students, parents and community members. If you come in the morning and the driveway is backed up to the sign showing to park, please turn and park because we will need to get busses in.
Students will be able to come in and get breakfast if they choose. 7th and 8th grade students will be able to go to their locker and then to their 1st hour class. 6th grade students will go straight to the auditorium when they come in. Their teachers will be there to guide them there. They will be able to go to their locker later that morning. We will also have a new batch of schedules printed in the commons in case your child has lost theirs. There will be Student Ambassadors there to help pass out and assist students if they have questions. Please check PowerSchool as some changes could have occurred.
We will have a shortened schedule tomorrow but they will be able to attend all of their EMS classes. If your child has a class at the high school, they will not go over there tomorrow. We will direct them where to go tomorrow. We will dismiss at 11:15 with bus riders being let out first.
I do want to let all parents know that if your child is riding the bus to or from school and also if they have an elective at the high school, they will have to wear a mask while riding that bus. This is a federal mandated requirement and everyone must follow it to be able to utilize transportation. This also includes the transits, vans, and smaller vehicles. A reminder that masks are optional, but strongly recommended for students who have not been vaccinated. If your child is not wearing a mask during the school day, please have them place one in their backpack so they have one when they ride a bus. This does include school transportation to and from activities.
EMS Open House will be Monday, August 23rd at 6:30 pm. We will all start in the gym and break up into grade level teams. You will hear from your child’s teachers about their classroom, communication and expectations. I have attached our bell schedule for both a regular school day and early release.
Again, we are excited and ready to welcome our 2021-2022 EMS Cardinals tomorrow for the best 1st day EVER! This school year is going to be EPIC! If you have any questions please let me know. We want to partner with all of you in creating a trusting relationship that helps your child SOAR to more heights and directs them on a path to true success!
